A quick story & 🎉 exciting announcement

Hey Reader,

Last week, a patient told me she was infuriated after spending ages on hold with her insurance company.

We’ve all been there — the irritation, the frustration, the sense that our precious time is being wasted.

But for many women, those moments don’t exist in isolation. They stack up. And over time, that tension shows up in your body as tight fascia, disrupted sleep, hormone swings, gut issues, headaches… and even chronic disease.

This is exactly why somatic medicine matters.

When stress has no place to go, it doesn’t just disappear — it gets stored. And when you learn how to release stress patterns at the root (not just think your way through them), you begin to feel and function better in ways that impact every part of your life and health.

We currently have limited openings in our Tigard clinic, as well as virtual options if you live further away — including a very exciting opportunity with Michelle that might just change the way you live your life.

Welcome Michelle!

We’re so happy to officially welcome Michelle Greissinger to The Embodied Wellness Studio.

If you’ve met Michelle, you already know she brings a grounded, thoughtful presence to the clinic.

Over the coming months, she’ll be training closely with me in somatic medicine (plus some other very exciting services. I’m not going to give too much away just yet, but let’s just say you’re going to leave with a glow that strangers comment on… stay tuned!).

Michelle’s work is especially supportive for women navigating:

  • chronic overwhelm and mental overload
  • repeated self-sabotage despite good intentions
  • goals that stay just out of reach, no matter how hard you try
  • low energy and constant depletion
  • loneliness or disconnection, even while being surrounded by people
  • Difficulty navigating life's transitions — motherhood, divorce, menopause, pregnancy, loss

Her lens is deeply informed by permaculture principles — a natural systems based approach that values diversity, believes problems present opportunities, and understands how small changes produce big results.

Rather than asking, “How do I push harder?” this work asks:
How do I live more intentionally — by design — so my life actually supports who I want to become?

Three Ways to Work With Michelle Right Now

1. Embodied Life Personal Permaculture Design Sessions

An antidote to overwhelm, self-sabotage, and unfulfilled goals.

These sessions support women who are tired of living reactively and ready to start living with intention.

Together, you’ll identify where energy is being leaked, why certain patterns keep repeating, and how to redesign your daily life so it aligns with the woman you want to be — not just the one who keeps everything afloat.

1-hour introductory session: $200

45-minute follow-up sessions: $130

3-session package (recommended): $397 (a $63 savings)

2. Personalized Herbal Medicine Consultations

Michelle also offers deeply individualized herbal consultations that consider your body, stress patterns, environment, and current season of life.

These are typically recommended every 3–6 weeks, depending on what’s being addressed, and are designed to support balance, resilience, and mental-emotional wellbeing over time.

1-hour initial consultation: $120

45-minute follow-ups: $90

3-session package: $270 ($30 savings)

3. Acupuncture + Cupping (Out-of-Pocket)

Have you heard about the wonders of cupping? Here's your chance to experience it for yourself.

Michelle is currently offering out-of-pocket acupuncture and cupping while she completes insurance credentialing.

Initial consultation + treatment (for new patients): $200

Follow-up sessions (for established patients at The Studio): $130

This work is especially supportive if you’re dealing with stubborn musculoskeletal tension — the kind that hasn’t responded to stretching, massage, or rest alone.

Sessions are designed to deeply release restriction and help you leave feeling noticeably lighter, looser, and more at ease in your body.

I recently saw an Instagram post that said, “Functioning well is not the same as feeling well,” and I felt the truth of it down to my toes.

We’re here to offer the support you need so you can do both.

P.S. We’ve recently re-ignited our Instagram account @EmbodiedWellness.Studio. If you aren’t already following along, we’d be delighted to connect with you there.

And if something resonates, liking, commenting, or sharing helps this work reach more women who need this kind of support. It might be exactly the medicine someone’s been looking for.

Know Someone Who Needs This?

Sometimes the most meaningful support is simply sharing something that helped you.
If a friend, sister, or colleague came to mind while you were reading, trust that instinct—send this her way.

Has Our Work Helped You?

We’d be grateful if you'd share your experience on Google or Yelp.

Your words help other women find care that actually supports their nervous system and their life.

When women feel better in their bodies, everything changes—the way they show up for themselves, their families, their work, and their future.

Thank you for being part of that ripple.

This Week's Glimmer:

I’m not a fan of doing the dishes. But as a family who cooks most of our own food, they tend to pile up faster than I’d like.

I was standing over the sink recently, feeling grumpy about everything I still had to do, when I noticed the warmth of the water on my hands as cool wind moved through the open window.

For a brief moment, the noise in my mind quieted. It felt almost holy — a small moment of divinity tucked inside an otherwise mundane task.

Sometimes that’s all it takes.

Weekly Health Tip:

Dry brushing before your shower can gently stimulate circulation and lymphatic flow. Follow this with simple at-home hydrotherapy by alternating hot and cold water.

If you’re feeling a cold coming on, end with warm water to keep your pores open and — as we say in Chinese medicine — let the pathogens out.

If you’re feeling well, end with cold water to help close the pores and strengthen your defenses.

Herb of the Week: Elderberry

Elderberry has a long tradition of being used in the early stages of coughs, colds, and flu.

It’s also commonly used for chronic sinusitis, night sweats, rheumatism, neuralgia, and skin issues related to digestion.

In our family, we love Mickleberry Garden’s Elderberry Tonic whenever we feel something coming on. The kids love it so much they ask for it even when they’re feeling fine — and we’re genuinely happy to give it to them.

What We're Eating:

With the winter cold really setting in, our bodies have been craving comfort foods that feel grounding and nourishing.

We’ve been loving the fresh gnocchi at New Seasons lately — it’s an easy staple that feels both cozy and satisfying. We usually serve it alongside a good protein and plenty of vegetables.

Our current favorite: turkey basil meatballs, sautéed kale, and a simple sage sauce.

For a gluten-free or meat-free option, we’ll swap the gnocchi or the meatballs for cannellini beans, which still give that comforting, hearty feel.

Simple, flexible, and perfect for cold evenings.

Hey Reader, For years I didn’t think I was anxious.I just thought I was trying to be “good enough” so the people I admired would like me. Meanwhile my stomach was in a permanent knot.My heart raced like I was being chased. And I kept trying to contort myself into a version of “attractive” that felt more like survival than self-worth. Most women don’t realize anxiety shows up like this, too—When your mind won’t shut off. When you can’t start the healthy habits you know would help.Or snapping at...

Hey Reader, We hear it everywhere: just let go. And yet, in clinic, we see how often trying to “let go” mentally actually creates more tension—not less. I wrote a new blog post about why this happens, and what we’ve learned from years of working with women whose bodies are holding far more than their minds realize. The short version: letting go isn’t a mindset. It’s a physical process—and when the body is supported, release becomes possible in a very real, tangible way. You can read the full...

Hey Reader, When I start seeing a new patient, I always pick 1–3 symptoms to track—it’s the best way to measure real progress. One patient, we'll call her Susan, recently came to me with daily afternoon headaches, the kind that creep in after hours at a computer. We focused on treating her nervous system and helping her body become more resilient to stress, and just two weeks later, her headaches were gone. But not every headache disappears that quickly. Hormonal headaches, long-standing...
