Hey Reader, Last week, a patient told me she was infuriated after spending ages on hold with her insurance company. We’ve all been there — the irritation, the frustration, the sense that our precious time is being wasted. But for many women, those moments don’t exist in isolation. They stack up. And over time, that tension shows up in your body as tight fascia, disrupted sleep, hormone swings, gut issues, headaches… and even chronic disease. This is exactly why somatic medicine matters. When stress has no place to go, it doesn’t just disappear — it gets stored. And when you learn how to release stress patterns at the root (not just think your way through them), you begin to feel and function better in ways that impact every part of your life and health. We currently have limited openings in our Tigard clinic, as well as virtual options if you live further away — including a very exciting opportunity with Michelle that might just change the way you live your life. If you’ve met Michelle, you already know she brings a grounded, thoughtful presence to the clinic. Over the coming months, she’ll be training closely with me in somatic medicine (plus some other very exciting services. I’m not going to give too much away just yet, but let’s just say you’re going to leave with a glow that strangers comment on… stay tuned!). Michelle’s work is especially supportive for women navigating:
Her lens is deeply informed by permaculture principles — a natural systems based approach that values diversity, believes problems present opportunities, and understands how small changes produce big results. Rather than asking, “How do I push harder?” this work asks: I recently saw an Instagram post that said, “Functioning well is not the same as feeling well,” and I felt the truth of it down to my toes. We’re here to offer the support you need so you can do both. Ready to book? Click here. We can’t wait to see where this takes you. Warmly, P.S. We’ve recently re-ignited our Instagram account @EmbodiedWellness.Studio. If you aren’t already following along, we’d be delighted to connect with you there. And if something resonates, liking, commenting, or sharing helps this work reach more women who need this kind of support. It might be exactly the medicine someone’s been looking for. Hey Reader, For years I didn’t think I was anxious.I just thought I was trying to be “good enough” so the people I admired would like me. Meanwhile my stomach was in a permanent knot.My heart raced like I was being chased. And I kept trying to contort myself into a version of “attractive” that felt more like survival than self-worth. Most women don’t realize anxiety shows up like this, too—When your mind won’t shut off. When you can’t start the healthy habits you know would help.Or snapping at...
Hey Reader, We hear it everywhere: just let go. And yet, in clinic, we see how often trying to “let go” mentally actually creates more tension—not less. I wrote a new blog post about why this happens, and what we’ve learned from years of working with women whose bodies are holding far more than their minds realize. The short version: letting go isn’t a mindset. It’s a physical process—and when the body is supported, release becomes possible in a very real, tangible way. You can read the full...
Hey Reader, When I start seeing a new patient, I always pick 1–3 symptoms to track—it’s the best way to measure real progress. One patient, we'll call her Susan, recently came to me with daily afternoon headaches, the kind that creep in after hours at a computer. We focused on treating her nervous system and helping her body become more resilient to stress, and just two weeks later, her headaches were gone. But not every headache disappears that quickly. Hormonal headaches, long-standing...
